I approach therapy with you as a partnership in being intentional and purposeful with the singular focus of increasing your sense of agency, life satisfaction, and your quality of life. Life itself is often the best therapy, but it can become confusing and overwhelming to know how and where to begin. I am here to accompany you on this journey. By building a warm and trusting relationship, you will know that I always have your back as you develop new tools and perspectives, allowing you to realize the life you want to work towards. You will know that therapy is a space where you will be accepted and accept yourself wholeheartedly. Our work together is setting up that strong foundation for your life.
From my perspective, the different schools of therapy overlap and are useful in different ways. My approach is to integrate these modalities – drawing from psychodynamic, cognitive behavior (CBT), dialectical (DBT), mindfulness-based therapeutic interventions, and coupled with coaching – to work with you in the way that best suits you and your needs. Many of my clients remain in weekly therapy session over the long-term to foster a deeper understanding of themselves. Others prefer shorter-term therapy to achieve specific goals and issues, with a flexibility in the frequency of visits.
I’ve seen countless couples in dire states and help them step back from that ledge and remember why they fell in love in the first place. I have also helped many couples in premarital counseling or other couples transitioning in one way or another. My clients often express being surprised by how much positive change is quickly gained. Some find it hard to believe that couples therapy can be fun and full of laughter, but with me, it will be.
Deftly pulling from my experience and knowledge of Gottman Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, I teach my couples new ways of communicating and understanding each other. I will guide and show you how to work through the most complicated issues, and make conflicts a place where you can deepen mutual understanding. I also have a considerable experience in coaching neurotypical and high functioning autism dyad.
Couples therapy is often about rebuilding friendship, deepening love and understanding, and creating an atmosphere of fondness and admiration. This provides a safe environment to explore deeper issues and manage such things as the impact of trauma, anxiety and depression on the relationship, sexuality, intimacy, and building life’s big dreams together. I recognize and support each member of the couple as an individual, and will help you build update your map of your partner’s heart, mind, and motivations.
Offering Tele-Sessions During the Bay Area Shelter in Place Order
My fees are comparable with other experienced psychotherapists in San Francisco. Fees will be discussed during our free 20-minute phone consultation. I do hold some sliding scale slots for individuals who cannot afford my full fee.
I am happy to provide you with a monthly invoice of our sessions for you to submit for reimbursement. In my experience, services are covered by most PPO health insurance plans. If you are in doubt of your insurance coverage, our administrative staff can identify what type of insurance you have and what you can expect it to cover.
My psychotherapy services are covered by pre-tax HSAs and FSAs.
